Layer cake time, the food not the film
And I was doing so well, no really I was. My last post was all about protein bars, running a bit more and getting in shape for the summer. Then the weekend hit and, well, everything went to pot really. There was a lovely cake baked by Hana and a stag do with lots of food and drink (oh my head was their too much drink!) but never mind, here we are with a new week and a new start. No more weekend days of indulgence for me, “what? There’s a wedding this Saturday? Okay. After that it’s all eating right and being good till the summer then”. Well that’s my plan anyway!
I’ll get to the stag do in a future post (hopefully later this week). After an afternoon of karting, which is great fun even if you’re as bad as I am, we went to a really cool restaurant in Camden. It was a teppanyaki restaurant called Sen Nin and aside from eating some really great food the theatre and spectacle of it makes for a really fun evening out. Being a stag do I have to sort out some usable photos and possibly even a video clip, if I can get it working on here. But for now, back to the cake.
No fuss protein bars.
Well after a disastrous start to the spring for a big part of England, though luckily we missed it all in London, the weather has certainly turned and it looks like summer is on the way. We have had a few really warm day’s, the kind where I have to go out in the afternoon as out west-facing flat heats up and slowly roasts me. With a bit of sunshine coming on I’ve started thinking about getting in shape and losing a bit of tummy, ready for the approaching summer. With that in mind as well as lots of exercise, I have also started making homemade protein bars, perfect for breakfast or snacks on the go!
Last minute edible presents for your mum, gran or a special lady.
It’s mothers day tomorrow and there are probably still a few of us out there who are getting ready to pop back home or to the in-laws tomorrow and have just realised they have forgotten to get a present for their mother or mother in law. Thankfully Hana is a bit more organised than I am and there is a little gift sitting in a bag ready to go back with us to Hertfordshire tomorrow, so I don’t need to panic about getting or making something. For me this will be a bit of an odd mothers day as it is the first after my gran passed away back in June of last year, really having raised me from the age of nine she was as much a mother as a grandmother and so I guess it feels like there is a bit of a space this year to be filled. Luckily through we will be visiting Hana’s family so there will still be a nice day to look forward to. In the mean time, if you are stuck for a last minute present I have made a few really nice edible gifts over the past few years I’ve been doing this blog and thought I’d share a few of them with you.
